Due to the greenhouse effect, the glaciers are melting and the sea level is rising. In a few decades, Venice, London and New York could disappear! Climate change causes an increase in drought and desertification in certain regions of the world and in the frequency of extreme weather events (i.e.: floods, storms, extreme hot and cold spells) in other regions. Furthermore, it favours the spread of epidemics.
Fossil fuels provide over 85% of the world’s energy requirement and the demand is constantly increasing.
We must remember that the environmental balance is extremely fragile. One direction we can take to maintain it is to foster the development of renewable energies and innovative energy production systems, as well as to promote projects and activities that can save and recover energy. This will allow us to reduce the emissions of gases and pollutants that make the atmosphere of our “greenhouse” unbreathable.
Solution
It is very warm today. Is it all right if I take my scarf and hat off?
